Studying differences in the insecticide resistance of green aphids
In aphids of the species Myzus persicae , there is a low rate of gene flow for insecticide resistance between the populations that colonise different plant species. This discovery made by scientists from ANSES, INRAE and the University of Montpellier may lead to a new approach to the strategies implemented to control the development of resistance to these pesticides.
Fuel siphoning: watch out for the risk of poisoning
During the recent fuel shortage, the number of cases of poisoning caused by siphoning increased five-fold. To avoid accidents, ANSES and the French poison control centres strongly discourage this practice.
Benoît Vallet has been appointed Director General of ANSES by decree of 31 October 2022, succeeding Roger Genet, who has led the Agency since 2016. He will take office on 15 November 2022.
Vaccination changes the evolution of a coronavirus in chickens
A study conducted by ANSES has shown that the genome of a strain of the avian infectious bronchitis virus, which belongs to the coronavirus family, evolves differently depending on whether it infects vaccinated or non-vaccinated animals.

ANSES advises against including vitamin D3 in the list of substances to be mentioned as endocrine disruptors on food products, as part of implementation of the French AGEC Act.
The Appelsprojetsrecherche.fr portal celebrates its first year
ANSES is joining the other founding members of the Appelsprojetsrecherche.fr portal in marking its first anniversary. The portal was created to increase the visibility of project-based research funding opportunities, and centralises all the calls for projects from the major research funding players in France. Besides ANSES, the co-founders of the portal are ADEME, ANR, INCa and Inserm/ANRS-MIE.
Launch of the ANSES dialogue committee on "Biotechnology, Environment and Health"
The "Biotechnology, Environment and Health" dialogue committee, chaired by Mr Jacques Vernier, met for the first time today at ANSES. Its purpose is to create a forum for exchange with stakeholders on the Agency's scientific work in this area. It will address ANSES's new assessment missions, since 1 January 2022, relating to organisms and products derived from biotechnology, both in the agri-food sector and for medical applications.
New European projects on the horizon, to better protect animal and human health
ANSES is involved in five new projects that have been selected by the EU's Horizon Europe research programme. Some of them started in the first half of 2022, while others will begin this autumn.
Foundation stone laid for the joint ANSES-ANSM building in Lyon-Gerland
On 19 October, the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) and the French Health Products Safety Agency (ANSM) officially launched the construction of their future shared building in Lyon, with the symbolic laying of the foundation stone.
